Schools Program

How it works

Asthma & Anaphylaxis Pro-Active

All you do is:

  1. Personal Safety Plans have been developed for each High Risk Student.
    To achieve this criterion,
Key Staff must attend a Safety Planning Workshop conducted by the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania which consists of:
    1. a discussion of general safety protocols
    2. a brainstorming session to help Key Staff developing a Personal Safety Plan based on at least one case study of a High Risk Student with asthma or anaphylaxis
    3. strategies for reducing absenteeism amongst some High Risk Students with asthma.
  2. A commitment that at the beginning of each school term there is a brief Staff First Aid Demonstration
To achieve this criterion a demonstration – lasting around five minutes – is put in place to help staff members familiarise themselves with administering emergency medication for asthma and anaphylaxis.

Important note: It is each school’s responsibility to comply with the guide recommendations. The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania does not accept any responsibility or any liability for noncompliance to the recommendations. Schools fully indemnify the Asthma Foundation.
