The different types of bequests

A bequest to the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania can take a number of forms:

  • a percentage of the value of your estate (so other beneficiaries are not disadvantaged should circumstances change)
  • the whole or part of the residue of your estate after you’ve made provisions for family, other beneficiaries and all legacies and costs have been paid; or
  • a specific sum of money (please note that a specified monetary amount will not appreciate over time); or
  • items of property EG real estate, art works, shares, units or other securities in listed companies

Some people choose a combination of two or more of these types of bequests. But whatever you choose, we strongly advise you to seek independent legal advice.
